We made it!!
As tough as I think I am and as cool as our housing is, keeping 3 kids entertained in place that isn't your own without their daddy and being prego is rough. I knew this going in, but it sure would be nice to have my tag team partner back! Though, sleeping has gotten better since I am getting bigger and bigger and don't have to share a bed with a snorer. But what a cute little snorer he is!! -sniff!- I try to call him as often as I can... he can vouch for that... just to get some sort of voice of reason/listening and understanding ear. I miss him tons.
I'll give a quick top ten recap of our trip thus far:
I'll give a quick top ten recap of our trip thus far:
10. Flying Business Class is great... but you still have to take care of your kids! What?!? And the food is awesome. My kids didn't touch it. Good thing I made PB&Js for them. Steak and Crusted Parmesan Chicken stuffed with cheese and Basil for me. Bummer.
9. Bad news: We were stuck on the tarmac for 3 hours in NYC ... Good news: My kids were asleep after 5 seconds on the airplane because it was 1am our time and then they slept the whole 5 hour flight too. They got 8 hours of sleep!! I finally got to watch a whole movie without pausing it 20 million times. And even got some sleep too.
8. The first day here, (we arrived at 2am,) I went to my OB appointment and instead of hearing that my baby is in the 2%ile like in Hungary, the little Guppy is in the 30%ile. So I might just have a small baby. They must have some HUGE babies in Hungary... oh, and I didn't get away with not taking the glucose test. I never took it in Hungary. I feel better now being in the hands of my OB here. She is fantastic!
7. The second day I was here I bought a car, licensed the car, insured the car, fixed minor things on the car (new windshield wipers, mats, steering wheel cover, rear view mirror..etc.) Thanks to the help of Reido and Stephanie (my in-laws), we are now proud owners of an '01 Toyota Sienna. We got a killer deal and between the two of us (Reido and I), we wheeled and dealed it great! Thanks again. Our license plate is B30 8LW. I remember it by: B is 30 and I will see him in 8 Long Weeks!!
6. It's sad to see how few Americans follow the World Cup. I miss being around all the excitement and hype!! (And being in the same time zone AND watching with a cute boy who appreciates it even more than I do.)
5. My kids asked Meechelle (my sis) if they could go to the park and play in the garden. She didn't know that they just wanted to go in the backyard and play on her playset. It is very European to call your yard, your garden.
4. Dylan announced that it's time to go home today. Tomorrow we will make a paper chain to help him understand the concept of time. We will make the chain 51 chains long. But who's counting? Maleia is a little weepy at times, so I have to keep her distracted as much as possible. I'm starting to get weepy too... how does the Military DO this all the time??
3. I am LOVING the YUMMO fruit here! Today I had the best watermelon that I have had for a couple of years. I bought and ate blueberries and raspberries at Costco that were the size of my thumb! Notice: I said "ate." Yes I ate 2 Costco sized bins of blueberries and raspberries in 4 days. My kids need to learn to like them, but we don't have them in Hungary as good as these, so they are missing out. . . Next up: Cherries and Peaches!
2. Thanks again to Reid and Stephanie (mostly Stephanie) I am able to use her cell phone that doesn't work in Monticello anyway. (I think that she is just saying that to be nice, so I will check when I am there. That Stephanie is sneaky that way... to downplay her niceness. As a matter of fact, it's a dominant Washburn trait...) Either way, we are EXTREMELY grateful and I feel I can now breathe, settle in, and enjoy what this summer has to offer.
1. I had Cafe Rio for the first time yesterday. I waited a whole 4 days. Aren't you proud of me?
I'm 32 weeks along... just 8 more long weeks... Here's to a Drama-free(ish) summer!!!

Yeah for Utah, boo for being away from Brandon! Hopefully we'll catch up to you soon, but no definite dates yet. I have an OB appointment out there on the 26th so we'll see if I have to reschedule or if we'll actually be moved by then. We think Brian just finished his processing but we're not sure. If he is done then we'll be headed your way any time now. Enjoy your 4th of July weekend!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize you were so far along! Does this mean you will have the baby while B is still in Hungry? (Is that where he is?)
ReplyDeleteWow, it sounds like you have been busy! I hope you have a good time in Utah, and you will see Brandon soon!
ReplyDeleteYou are one tough cookie. I hope you are able to rest and enjoy your time. And hopefully B will be there before you know it. I love you how say tag-team because that's exactly what it is. It is rough not being able to tag-off to someone else.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how others do it all the time either- I'm relatively spoiled and only have to deal w/ Sam having short TDY's. So you joined the tough club now in my book. I'm glad baby sounds to be doing better- bummer B can't be there until later- hopefully your little bundle will wait til B gets there. Sure miss ya, Mo!
