Party Attire??

What the heck. I just epitomized what I am about to say. I am so not hip enough to know what "Party Attire" is. Yes, laugh if you must, I am going to my ten year High School Reunion and it said "Party Attire Requested." The last party I went to was for a two year old and I wore flip flops and a dark shirt knowing I would spill or get spilled upon and some sort of shorts that I found are a motif of my outfit collection. . . if you can call my clothes "outfits." (sigh.) Are they saying to wear what we would have worn to a party ten years ago when we were in High school or what we would wear to a party now if I were single because I am SO not wearing a polo shirt and those high waisted Abercrombie jeans nor am I going to dress like I am going to a Rave. (They still have those, right?) So needless to say I am going on an airplane tomorrow and I am asking Brandon what I should wear and he suggests all the stuff that he bought for me for Christmas which I guess is the most recently bought clothes, but then again, are they "Party Attire?" Brother. And "Why?" you ask am I even worried about it? Well, I'll tell you why. Because I have one night to look the part of a mother of three that doesn't look like a mother of three that has a great life, a great husband, a successful outlook, and make everyone believe I'm still fun. And I only get ONE outfit to tell it all. Help!!! Heels? Sandals? Cute jeans? Skirt? . . . . . Doherty High School here I come!

Definition of a Bad Day:

Poor Dylan. He has had a rough day so far. (Sorry no pics. We are on our laptop and our pics are on our other computer.)

This is Dylan (if he could talk)

1. I am woken up at 6:30 by Reville. It echos in our house because there is nothing left in our house to absorb the sound, so it's EXTRA loud. Dumb trumpets. They are so scary!

2. I have two poop explosions that end up being hosed down in the sink. Love the water, need more space. My outfit was changed twice already. blah!

3. Missing my morning nap because we have to go for a drive in the car. But they do give me some yummy medicine. I wonder why?

4. I see Daddy's work. I know what that means. Nooooooooooo! I take one step into his work and I start to bawl. It's a cruel, cruel world. Who even likes SHOTS?

5. Miss Dale sticks me with Rabies. Waaaaaaah!

6. Can't have my own special blanket because I got it dirty. (see #2) So my parents used a decoy to try to calm me down. It's just not the same!

7. On the way home I fall asleep, but was woken up by my "helpful" sister who was trying to "tuck in" my blanket that already isn't my favorite. Rude!

8. We get home and mom puts me down for a nap. IMMEDIATELY I fall asleep. Phew! And it's not even 11am! (sniff.)

Not to mention we will be leaving our home for good starting today. We are going to stay at a Residence Inn for the next ten days until our flight day to Hungary! Ten... more... days... ! Crazy!

Monster Pee

A couple nights ago I came across this scene: Maleia and Haley were sleeping on the same pillow on the same side of the bed. We have them sleeping in a trundle bed, so they already sleep right beside each other, but they are in two separate beds that you push together, but one is stored underneath the other to save space. Anyway, so I noticed that Maleia moved onto Haley's side of the bed with her, so I tried so quietly to move her back onto her side of the bed, but she woke up, looked at me and said, "Mommy, I am sleeping by Haley because a monster peed on my bed." Oh great. She has had a few accidents lately, never at night, but my first thought was that she had peed the bed. I checked her side of the bed and, yes, it was wet, but there was no odor. I was puzzled, yet I didn't want to investigate too much since I frown on checking the authenticity of pee, so I started to take the sheets off just in case when I notice her sippie cup. I pick it up and turn it upside down. We have a leaker. So I take the sheets off and put them in the dryer, put new sheets on her bed, put her in her own bed, and she wakes up in a daze and says, "Thank you mommy. Can you tell the monster not to go potty in my bed anymore." I say, " Honey, it was the sippie cup." "Maleia responds, "Gross. He peed in the sippie cup too?!?" She is so awesome. I had a fun time trying to explain this to her at 1:00 in the morning.

Paisley Pals

We are on our way! Our friend Sarah Gardner has our three kids and we feel like kids again going to a concert together! yee-haw!

We arrive an hour and a half later in VA.

Brandon and his buddy Brad. Aren't they cute!
Oh Brad. You have a wife. Okay. Sure. You can take a picture with me!

The funniest part was when he did a spoof on Guitar Hero where he had two old country singers "playing" guitar hero to his songs. We couldn't stop laughing!

Okay, so this was a typical couple at the concert that epitomized the stereotype of "country folk." Both were wearing hats and boots. She has a halter shirt and tight tapered jeans tucked into her boots. He had tight black wrangler jeans with a big belt buckle, a goatee, one earring, tattoo on his sunburned red neck, arrow head necklace, and a see through white shirt buttoned half-way down and tucked in. We never saw them without a beer in hand. I'm sure they were nice, but they never sat down once Brad was on stage, so we stood the whole time, too. The poor old man in front of us didn't have a great view, but hey, I can respect hard-core country folk. It was just fun to see them residing in the east.

Another favorite of mine is Jewel. She is touring with him, so we got to hear her too. She sang her oldies-but-goodies, some new country songs, and the best yodeling I have ever heard.

And of course Brad jamming out on his blue guitar. He is one AMAZING artist!! He is the lead guitarist and lead singer, which is hard, and he can seriously jam. Plus a great performer. We had a blast.

Two satisfied customers. Yes, we got great seats right behind VIP and LOVED it! Where's my belt buckle?

I have a confession. I am a country girl at heart. If you already knew that, then you are in the know, but being from Colorado it isn't hard to become one. After knowing Brandon for a while after we were dating, I was shocked to find out not only did he not like country, he HATED it. (gasp!) This was the first bad thing I learned about him. :) So we get married and we go on road trips and he "suffers" through my Garth Brooks, Keith Urban, Dixie Chicks, Country mix CDs, etc. We even went to two Stadium of Fire concerts where Toby Keith (not my favorite) and Brooks and Dunn were playing. I did buy a Brooks and Dunn CD for him so that he could get used to the music before we went. Then American Idol's Carrie Underwood was one of my favs, so he got me her CD and bought a bunch more for "me" for birthdays or Christmas. I quote "me" because come to find out, I find more and more of my country CDs in his CD case, less and less complaining about the music, THEN he slowly but surely came out of the closet and can now tell everyone he knows that he LOVES country music. So I take most of the credit for his passion for Country music, but I can also thank Brad Paisley, his favorite Country artist right now, for his adoration for the fiddle, lap steel guitar, and a little twang. Yee-haw! It's amazing how much country knowledge Brandon has now. The funny thing is, he'll come home and tell me about this "new" song he heard on the radio and I tell him that it's not new, but really old. He just looks at me and then does the research and finds out that the song was dated 2001. sigh. I just smile - not with the "I told you that you would like it if you listened to it long enough and gave it a chance" smile- just a smile because he gets almost more excited to go to a country concert than I do. Almost!! I love my country boy!

. . . and Justice for all!

I played a whole season of soccer and I play in one measly game of pick-up soccer and have to use crutches. Bleh! If you heard an ambulance on the 4th of July around 8ish, that was because of me. I didn't take the ambulance becuase I didn't think it was broken, so I went to an emergency care center the next day and they confirmed it wasn't broken, but that I needed to go to an orthopedic surgeon. So I went in and the surgeon said that I had a severe high ankle sprain and a bone contusion. PHEW! No surgery and we can still leave to move to Hungary on time! Thank goodness. The funny thing is, when we arrived here, Brandon had an ankle injury. Now that we are leaving, I have the ankle injury. Let's not make this a habit.

About the 4th:

1. Shopped at Target for a canopy and food.

2. Fun BBQ with tons of friends.

3. Naps and had some friends over who used to live here, but moved away.

4. Picked up KFC for dinner.

5. Met at a parl and set up the BROKEN canopy just bought from Target. grrrr. We made due.

6. Played games. Threw a football around with friends. Threw a Frisbee around. Played duck duck goose and Cranes and Crows with the little kids. Played in a soccer game where said injury occurred. I got slide tackled and went down pretty hard.

7. Ambulance. Embarrassed.

8. Downpour of rain. Thankful for broken canopy.

9. Ankle hurting too bad to stay, so we left early, but left the canopy for our friends.

10. Stopped at the side of the road to see most of the fireworks. It was worth it and will remember this 4th of July forever!!

Team Yeti!

So I have been playing soccer on a co-ed team and it has been so fun! I can tell you, babies put a toll on your body and slow you down some. It's definitely not that I'm getting older or anything. Blame the babies...

Super action shot #1.

Super action shot #2.

The team's mascots. My favorite was that Maleia found out the first game that the refs would blow their whistle at her if she crossed the white line. After the game she would still wait behind the white line until I told her it was okay to cross. :)

Behind the scenes . Believe me. I know how hard it is to bring 3 needy kids with minuscule attention spans during dinner time to a game they know nothing about. Loved the support... they never missed a game. Thanks babe!

Getting to know this crew has been pretty sweet!

Anyway, it's been a blast and since I have no idea when the next time I will be playing an organized sport, tonight was pretty special to me. We DID win 3-2, so that added to the "awesomeness" of the night. Go Yeti! (Yes our team name. I have no idea who came up with it, but I bet Saunders had something to do with it.) :)

(Here's a few pics of what a Yeti is supposed to look like. Think: Abominable Snowman. Which one is true to form? Notice a resemblance of the 1st team pic with the second Yeti pic?)
