I played a whole season of soccer and I play in one measly game of pick-up soccer and have to use crutches. Bleh! If you heard an ambulance on the 4th of July around 8ish, that was because of me. I didn't take the ambulance becuase I didn't think it was broken, so I went to an emergency care center the next day and they confirmed it wasn't broken, but that I needed to go to an orthopedic surgeon. So I went in and the surgeon said that I had a severe high ankle sprain and a bone contusion. PHEW! No surgery and we can still leave to move to Hungary on time! Thank goodness. The funny thing is, when we arrived here, Brandon had an ankle injury. Now that we are leaving, I have the ankle injury. Let's not make this a habit.
About the 4th:
1. Shopped at Target for a canopy and food.
2. Fun BBQ with tons of friends.
3. Naps and had some friends over who used to live here, but moved away.
4. Picked up KFC for dinner.
5. Met at a parl and set up the BROKEN canopy just bought from Target. grrrr. We made due.
6. Played games. Threw a football around with friends. Threw a Frisbee around. Played duck duck goose and Cranes and Crows with the little kids. Played in a soccer game where said injury occurred. I got slide tackled and went down pretty hard.
7. Ambulance. Embarrassed.
8. Downpour of rain. Thankful for broken canopy.
9. Ankle hurting too bad to stay, so we left early, but left the canopy for our friends.
10. Stopped at the side of the road to see most of the fireworks. It was worth it and will remember this 4th of July forever!!

Ouch! I hope your ankle heals quickly! Crutches suck. How long do you have to use them?
ReplyDeleteThat's right, move to Hungary on time, we don't want you sticking around any longer. :( I guess we really are going to have to come visit after all. I was hoping to move back to MD and find you still there. Oh well. Fun trip overseas here we come!!
I must say, you have the cutest family EVER! You are all so photogenic! I loved reading all the posts and looking at the pictures! You're so awesome! Someday I want to have a family like yours and have as much fun doing family activities as you do!
ReplyDeleteYour tip about the tummy sleeping is actually one that the doctor recommended to me! I let her take a nap on her stomach once, but felt too tied down and anxious that I'd rather flip her over as soon as she hits a few Z's! But thanks for the tip! I have learned so much from friends and random people to throw out a suggestion! I love picking through new advice!! Hope your ankle heals quickly! Good luck with your prep for travel overseas! Buenos suerte!
Oh, Mo! That really stinks about your ankle! But I just have to say, you are wonder woman! You can do it all... and you are still an awesome mom. How do you do it?! Glad you had a fun fourth of july, we really missed you at the reunion :(
ReplyDeleteEEEEK!
ReplyDeleteMonique, thanks for your comment. Jacobs Ladder, fireworks from the van, and symphonies in the clouds are why I love this holiday. And lets not forget the game where you toss the rings around 2 liter bottles of soda and take home like 8 of them because it's really for little kids and nobody stops you from leaning in just a little bit.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your ankle - good thing you're such a tough chick!
Mo were you trying to make up for not being at the washburn reunion? We do want to thank you though-because of your injury all of us in monticello were spared! I hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteGood thing you looked so cute with crutches =)
ReplyDeleteWow sounds like you had a long day that day. We still need to get together if you're ankle is good enough to go to the park or something like that. Let me know a time and date and I'll be there. By the way my triathlon is only 2 weeks away!!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize it'd happened that evening! You're such a trooper, I would have been the drama queen in the ambulance--with one hand on my forehead and a quivering lip while saying something like "don't worry about me, I'll be OK."
ReplyDeleteOuch!!! I'm glad it's not broken. However, they say sprains can hurt more then a broken ankle. What do you think???
ReplyDeleteWhen do you guys move anyway?
