"Not all that wander are lost." -J.R.R Tolkein

I see this quote often when I email a friend of mine, it's her email signature, and it always leads my thoughts to 2 things:

All those who might not be in the path that they want to be on in life, but are there for a reason.
And then there are thoughts of people like me who are placed in a foreign land away from what they know and are comfortable with (by choice).

And since I am tired of being frustrated that I can't upload any pictures of when my cousin came to visit (any suggestions of why this might be?) I would like a thought or 2 about what you think this quote means to you.

Oh, and just for the record... it was B that was driving when we got in our accident. And yes, I know that I was the obvious choice, but alas it was my dear, sweet, calm, and collected husband who sideswiped a little teeny car on the way to Margit Sziget on Mother's Day.
We are now even, 1:1.

Here is a new site that I have been enjoying lately. It's a Latter-Day Saint Channel and has been launched. There's songs, talks, cute commercials, and just some good information.

  1. I have always liked that quote by Tolkien. Perhaps because I put that LDS/ Christian spin on it. Tolkien himself was converted to Christianity, influenced by his friend, C.S. Lewis. I worry about my family [who admit themselves know not what to think of Jesus and God]. I know that not all is lost as long as I have hope, and try to be a good example of the way they should go to have eternal joy.

  2. Aha, so it wasn't you. Way to go B!

As for uploading photos, check your memory card for a little "switch" that locks/unlocks the card. It's usually pretty small and just slides left or right. See if you've accidentally locked the card.

    Miss you!

  3. That quote actually reminds me of Jared! He'll often "get himself lost" while driving so that he can explore a new area. We'll be driving along and he'll say, hey, never turned that way before, and just turn and wander around getting the lay of the land. And afterward, he knows that area and knows new ways of getting around. Actually drives me batty, but he's got a point. I know one way of getting each place, he knows about 10 because he lets himself wander.

We'll be driving along and he'll say, never been that way, and drive off and just wander around getting the lay of the land. And afterwards, he knows the area and how to get around it. Drives me batty, but he's got a point. I know one way of getting each place, he knows about 10, because he's not afraid of letting himself wander around a bit. And no, I don't think that's what Tolkien was talking about. :-)
