Lazlo? Really? You are all voting for Lazlo?? Now I know what kind of true friends I have! You just want all the good names for yourself. :) Just so you know, Lazlo is one of the BEST Hungarian boy names. Here are a few 'winners':
1. Attila. Like Attila the Hun... garian.
2. Gabor.
3. Gergely. Pronounced "Gair-gay." Sorry to say it, but it's more for a gay man. Can't do it.
4. Antal. Too close to Anal. Poor dude will be crying himself on his wee pilla!
5. Balazs. The meaning of the name actually means, "talks with lisp." (see #3)
6. Feri. (see #3 and #5)
7. Istvan. Pronounced "Eesht-van." Americans would butcher the name EVERY DAY.
8. Jancsi. Pronounced "Yan-chee." Doesn't it sound sorta Asian? (see #7) I can hear the kids on the playground calling him "Cheese." Kids are mean like that.
Speaking of mean kids. How can you make fun of the name Chapman? Haley came home and told me that the boys were calling her a man. Is it legal to drop kick little boys in Hungary?

Hey, if the best they can come up with is "man" to tease her about her name, she's a lucky gal. At least they haven't figured out a way to call her something anatomical. And I vote for Balazs. That would be a totally cool name in the States. Couldn't you just see a pro football player named Balazs Chapman? That would rock. Definitely Balazs. And his buddies could call him Badass. Perfect.

ReplyDeleteI laughed so hard when you wrote that #5 means man with a lisp!!! What kind of name has a description like that!!! Hilarious! Lazlo was a name used in a movie... I can't remember which one though... maybe wedding planner?? It would be fun for him to have a Hungarian name! Good luck with the selection though! :)
