President Hinckley

I still remember the death of the beloved President Howard W. Hunter in High School and remember feeling loss, emptiness, and sadness. But when my friend Jenn gently tapped on my bedroom door while at Disney World with our two families at 11pm that night to tell me the news that our Prophet and president of our church, Gordon B. Hinckley died, I felt a peace that it was his time to go, was reminded of the knowledge of an eternal perspective, and felt blessed to be apart of his legacy. He is a remarkable man and I can't help but feel joy that he is reunited with his sweetheart.

This church does not belong to its President. Its head is the Lord Jesus Christ, whose name each of us has taken upon ourselves. We are all in this great endeavor together. We are here to assist our Father in His work and His glory. . . . Your obligation is as serious in your sphere of responsibility as is my obligation in my sphere. No calling in this church is small or of little consequence.”
( “This Is the Work of the Master,” Ensign, May 1995, 71.)

“The time has come for us to stand a little taller, to lift our eyes and stretch our minds to a greater comprehension and understanding of the grand millennial mission of this, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.”
( “This Is the Work of the Master,” in Conference Report, Apr. 1995, 95.)

Here is a great Interview with President Hinckley. He was interviewed in Australia all about our church and it was published there. He is so bold, so courageous!

  2. Absolutely! If we all had the ambition, love, charismatic attitude, and eternal perspective as he had we would be forever happy.
